3. Mount LeConte Trail – Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Tennessee
One of the most spectacular places in the country to see waterfalls is the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This is a family-friendly vacation destination that has lots of offer hikers as well. For a great overview of the park and a big challenge, hike the Mount LeConte Trail, which is about 11 miles long and takes most hikers four to five hours to complete. Although it’s long, this hike can be done in a day, and is ideal during the spring wildflower season. Summer is the busiest time here, so plan your hike in spring or fall to avoid crowds and experience how the foliage changes at other times of year. Another awesome hike here that is of similar length is Gregory Bald; however, this is a well-maintained park that has hikes for all skill levels.
