4. The Narrows – Zion National Park, Utah
Zion National Park is simply breathtaking and well-known for its canyoneering excursions. But to soak up this natural beauty, you really need to experience the park’s hiking trails too. The Narrows is one of the most famous trails in the park and can be hiked through the canyon in a day. But you’ll need to be in good hiking shape to take it on because the hike can last up to 14 hours across the 16 miles of the trail. Alternatively, you can just hike part of The Narrows and turn back whenever you like to backtrack your steps, while still seeing the towering canyon walls and narrow passageways. For a shorter hike that’s still challenging, try Angel’s Landing, which is about five miles and takes more like three hours.
