1. Runyon Canyon
This is probably the hippest hiking area in Los Angeles, set up in the Hollywood Hills. It’s the spot, apart from the gym, to show off your toned body and perfect abs. The path is always pretty busy with hikers, joggers, exercise and yoga enthusiasts and of course, the bold and the beautiful. Runyon Canyon epitomizes Los Angeles, especially after work when everyone heads to the hills to be seen or to see. Runyon Canyon is located in a 160-acre park at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains. It’s also home to many of the most beautiful homes in Los Angeles. The most popular hike seems to be the loop from either Fuller Avenue in the east or North Vista Street from the western side of the canyon. The ascent is gradual and pretty easy until a pretty steep and narrow section near the top of the canyon wall. The trail then flattens out along a ridge with gorgeous views of the Hollywood Hill homes, with swimming pools and deck chairs in full display. It’s gorgeous! Take your dog as an accessory.
Length of trail is 1.5 miles.
Skill level is easy to intermediate.
